“I am always a much happier, positive person when I have incorporated good habits for myself.” – Meri A.

Briefly introduce yourself and share a bit about your background.

I am married with 3 adult children and one 18 month old grandson. I’ve been with the UA Payroll Department in Human Resources for 6 years.

What were some challenges or obstacles you encountered during your wellness journey?

I finally came to the conclusion that exercising on my lunch hour is best for me. I never wake up early enough to go before work, and talk myself out of it, or continue driving past the gym, after work. It’s also less stressful to walk around your area on campus than driving to another location.

Which wellness practices or habits have you incorporated into your routine?

Attending the wellness checkup every year along with the requirements of a class and exercise program, with the $50 gift card reward at the end of the year, has had a positive impact on me. Keeps me in check!

How has your wellness journey influenced your daily life, including work, relationships, and overall well-being?

I am always a much happier, positive person when I have incorporated good habits for myself.

What advice would you give to someone who is just starting their wellness journey?

Start slowly with small changes every week and try to always challenge yourself. There may be times of stepping away from good habits (I have these often) which doesn’t mean your journey is over. Start again tomorrow!

What was the last random act of kindness you did? (i.e left a kind note, volunteered time, gave a compliment, shared homemade treats, etc.)

I try to always say something positive to someone or compliment them. I genuinely feel that way, so why not tell them? It may be the day they needed to hear it.
