We are the UA Online Marketing team. We have a creative group that loves any excuse to celebrate, connect and move together! Because we’re located on the third floor, most of us choose the stairs instead of the elevator to build in extra movement throughout the day. We also walk together every Friday to Lakeside for lunch, which helps us get steps in and enjoy a variety of healthy dining options. Beyond that, we regularly line dance together and even has a shared line-dancing YouTube playlist we use at work and at home. We sign up for as many 5Ks as possible and encourage each other through training and on race day. We also promote walking meetings. Four team members use standing desks, and our department has a walking workstation that we take advantage of daily.
What is your teams favorite wellness event to participate in?
Our favorite Wellness Event is the Crimson Couch to 5K! We always have an after party and celebrate our success!
Share a memorable moment or story that shows the impact on your department or culture.
Moving together has strengthened our team culture in meaningful ways. Whether it’s a short walk, a dance break or training for a race, these shared activities boost morale, reduce stress and create space for informal connection. We’ve noticed that even a quick 10–15 minute walk can completely shift our mindset and energy for the rest of the day.
If another department wanted to follow your lead, what practical advice or lessons learned would you share?
Start small and set yourself up for success. Keep walking shoes at your desk, schedule at least one walking lunch each week and incorporate walking meetings when possible. And encourage one another! Sometimes it’s as simple as stopping by a coworker’s desk and suggesting a quick break. We’ve learned that we’re far more likely to stay active as a group than individually, and the benefits extend to both physical and mental well-being.
