I [Kristie Black] work for the Institute for Rural Health Research, I have been here for 7 1/2 years, and I am the clinical trials coordinator.
What specific wellness program has had a positive impact on you?
Strive for five has made the most positive impact!
How has your wellness journey influenced your daily life, including work, relationships, and overall well-being?
Tracking my steps has been the biggest influence, I am able to take a few minutes out of my day to walk with coworkers and encourage each other in our wellness journey.
What changes have you noticed in energy levels, focus, or other aspects of your daily routine?
I love starting my day by taking a short walk before work and throughout the day if I find myself feeling overwhelmed getting out for a short walk helps to clear my mind and I can be more productive.
What advice would you give to someone who is just starting their wellness journey?
Start small and work up to a goal you have set, so that you don’t get overwhelmed
How do you plan to sustain your well-being and continue growing in the future?
Having an accountability partner helps you stay on track and always remember that every day will not be the same and we have to be willing to forgive ourselves when our day doesn’t go as planned. Every day is a new day.
What was the last random act of kindness you did? (i.e left a kind note, volunteered time, gave a compliment, shared homemade treats, etc.)
I shared homemade strawberry poundcake with my co-worker.
