Briefly introduce yourself and share a bit about your background.
I’m Morgan Keel, and I am currently the Communications Specialist for University Recreation. I’m a proud alumni of the University of Alabama with a master’s in advertising and public relations. When I’m not working, I love teaching dance at a local studio in Tuscaloosa and spending time with my cat, Maddie.
How has your wellness journey influenced your daily life, including work, relationships, and overall well-being?
My wellness journey has encouraged me to prioritize self-care, which has made me more present and focused both at work and in my personal life. By dedicating time to physical health, I’ve found that I have more mental clarity throughout the day.
Have you noticed changes in energy levels, focus, or other aspects of your daily routine?
Absolutely. Since prioritizing wellness, I’ve noticed a significant boost in my energy levels. I feel more energized and productive throughout the day. I’ve also adopted healthier eating habits and improved my sleep, both of which have contributed to a better lifestyle.
What advice would you give to someone who is just starting their wellness journey?
My biggest piece of advice is to start small and be patient with yourself. Wellness is personal, and it’s about discovering what works best for you. Begin by setting simple, achievable goals that you can gradually build upon. Whether it’s adding a short walk to your day, incorporating more water into your routine, or practicing a few minutes of mindfulness, consistency is key.
What wellness practices have you incorporated into your routine?
One of my favorite wellness practices is participating in the group exercise classes at University Recreation. They offer a wide variety of classes, from cardio and strength training to yoga and cycling, which helps keep me engaged and motivated. I love the energy and community aspect of working out alongside others—it really makes the experience more enjoyable. In addition to my own workouts, I also stay active by teaching dance several times a week. Dance has always been a passion of mine and sharing that with others not only helps me stay physically fit but also brings me joy.
