Strive for Five

September 9 – October 13, 2024

Strive for Five is a virtual 5-week program for University of Alabama faculty and staff that uses five simple steps to improve overall health. Choose at least 1 goal from the 5 categories (Eat, Sleep, Think, Move, Drink) and track your progress toward those goals in the MoveSpring app. Participants who have a total of 26 daily goals met will receive WellBAMA program credit.

Getting started is easy!

  1. Register for Strive for Five. 

    Log into the wellness portal to register and download the MoveSpring app.

  2. Choose 1 or more goal from the five categories to complete.

    • Eat 30 different plants per week
    • Sleep 7+ hours a night per week
    • Dedicate 15 minutes to exercise your mind
    • Move for at least 30 minutes per day
    • Drink 64oz or more of water per day

  3. Track your goal progress each day in the MoveSpring app.

    Receive program credit towards your WellBAMA Rewards when you complete your daily goals 26 times.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don't have a smartphone or can't get the app to work? 

If you don't have a smartphone, you can email us for Strive for Five tracking spreadsheet and track your progress manually (You’ll need to email us your completed spreadsheet by Oct. 20th. If you can’t get the app to work, contact MoveSpring support.

What if I don't have a MoveSpring account? 

Creating one is easy! When you click to join the challenge, you will be able to sign up for an account. Use the organization code UAS, then when prompted, your CWID.

How does the tracking work? 

Tracking is easy – just open the app, tap on the challenge, and swipe to indicate you’ve made progress toward your goal. 

Do I have to join a team?

Joining a team is not necessary! We encourage you and your co-workers to create a team because you can help hold each other accountable. Plus, who doesn’t love a little friendly competition?

Can I join anyone’s team?

While we love the team aspect, please only join a team within your department, office, or that you were invited to. If you want to be on a team, but no one else is interested, please join our Wellness and Work-Life team! Note: we cannot remove or edit teams for you.

Do I have to meet the entire goal for it to count?

Nope. Habits take time to create, and it won’t be perfect. We just want to know that you’re making steps to achieve your health goal. For instance, if you only get 3 servings of fruits and vegetables in a day instead of 5, you can still swipe because you made progress. 

How do I get program credit? 

Make sure you track your progress for 1 or more goals at least 26 times.

What if I miss a day or a few days?

No problem! MoveSpring allows you to go back and complete activities as long as you’re still within the challenge window. 

What if the challenge has ended but I forgot to track something?

You have a 3-day grace period after the challenge ends to make sure your tracking is up-to-date.
