What is body composition?
The InBody 380 Body Composition device breaks down your body into components like:
- Hydration status
- Fat mass (essential and stored fat)
- Lean mass (muscles, bones, and organs)
If you’re working on fitness or wellness goals, body composition shows real changes like gaining muscle while losing fat even if your weight stays the same. BMI wouldn’t reflect those improvements.
Why is body composition important?
Your body composition test will help you understand:
- Where your fat is distributed (visceral fat around organs is more dangerous than subcutaneous fat). Visceral fat is linked to heart disease, diabetes, and inflammation even if BMI is normal.
- How much muscle you have, which is crucial for strength, metabolism, and longevity. Low muscle mass (sarcopenia) increases risk of falls, frailty, and metabolic issues.
