Healthy weight starts with a proper diet. Nutritional tips, counseling, education and weight loss programs are available to all employees to encourage healthy eating.
Summer SlimDown
Develop healthy eating habits and establish effective exercise routines that promote safe weight loss and increased physical activity. The Office of Health Promotion and Wellness has partnered with the Student Recreation Center to introduce a 2 month fitness and nutrition program for UA employees who want to get a jump-start on their weight-loss and fitness goals. The program consists of small group personal training, two times per week and weekly interaction with a dietitian.

The cost is $156, payable by check or credit card by June 5th. (If paying by check, you have the option of paying in 3 installments of $52 each.) The registration fee covers 12 weeks of meetings and 14 weeks of free eTools. Meetings are held Thursdays in the Library of W.B. Jones Hall. Weigh-in starts at 12:15. Nutritional Coaching
Registered Dietitians at University Medical Center are available to meet with you individually to help you set nutrition and weight goals, develop meal plans, and combat chronic disease conditions with diet and lifestyle changes. No referral is required for those under the University of Alabama Blue Cross/Blue Shield medical insurance plan. You can receive up to eight nutrition counseling sessions per calendar year. Simply provide a $20 co-pay at the time of service. To make an appointment, call 348-5030.

Farmer’s Market
Area farmers come together each Summer to provide healthy nutritious fresh fruits, vegetables and other homemade items for purchase. Each Thursday visit the farmer’s market from 3:00 to 6:00pm at the Episcopal Church for healthy options to add to your diet.
